Your iPhone has a Secret Rain Map!
Given that iOS 15 has been available for more than a month, there is a high chance you have already downloaded the latest version of the software. Even if iOS 15 does not have a single game-changing innovation, the update is nonetheless jam-packed with new features that, when considered as a whole, make it a compelling release. If you are still playing around with iOS 15, one feature is included in the Weather app that’s worth mentioning if you have not already.
Putting that aside, there is no doubting that, historically speaking, Apple’s Weather app has been somewhat lacking in functionality. However, to its credit, Apple has begun to share iPhone’s features in its Weather app in recent months, which is welcome. So naturally, Apple’s purchase of Dark Sky in March 2020 has given this campaign a significant boost in momentum.
The iPhone Weather App’s hidden map
Recent years have seen a significant improvement in the iPhone Weather application. This has resulted in the app providing a plethora of essential weather information that may not be immediately visible. For example, the Weather app has a secret map feature that can tell you where and when it is likely to rain. This feature is tucked away deep inside the app and can be accessed only by logging into your account. This suggestion may be of interest to those of you seeking additional hyper-local information concerning your weather report.
- The first step is to launch the Weather app and choose the symbol in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. From there, you can see the hidden rain map.
- Once you have done that, click on the symbol that looks like three boxes piled on top of one another.
- Once you have done that, you will be presented with three alternatives. After seeing these choices, click “Precipitation” to be sent to a weather map that tells you where it will rain shortly.
The following is an example of the following interface:
The black horizontal bar at the bottom is a slider that you may adjust to the left and right to observe how much precipitation will fall at different times of the day. Overall, it is a reasonably valuable function that is not particularly obvious while using the Weather application. In addition to checking the weather, the same interface can be used to check the temperature and air quality in your current location and adjacent locations.
