WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging applications on the planet. However, because of the new privacy policy, it has recently been the subject of debate and has sparked strong resistance. The Facebook-owned company has introduced the divisive feature, stating that it will only affect corporate clients and that private conversations and calls will remain encrypted from beginning to end.

The criticism was sparked by consumers’ fears that the amount of data exchanged between Facebook and WhatsApp will dramatically grow.

WhatsApp has been delivering feature after feature to keep users after a huge number of them went to Telegram and Signal as a result of the reaction. The Facebook-owned app has been slow to provide new features compared to Telegram. The most recent feature is an update to Archive chats.

Update to Archive Chats

WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, has introduced a new feature called Archived Chats, which allows users to focus on critical messages rather than all of the other messages that appear on the site. The messaging app announced recently that it is rolling out new settings for archived chats, giving users more control over their inboxes and a variety of ways to organize the Archived Chats category.

WhatsApp Archived Chats, according to the company, allows users to organize private messages and prioritize key chats. The new feature is a response to the request by many users who had requested that archived messages be stored in the Archived Chats folder rather than being displayed in the main chat list. Limiting unnecessary SMS sharing.

It means that even if a new message is posted to a message thread that appears to be archived, it will remain in the Archived Chats folder. Only if a user chooses to unarchive the chat will it become visible again; otherwise, it will remain hidden forever. WhatsApp users will be given the chance to respond to questions about how archived chats performed before the update.

In a statement, WhatsApp stated, “We understand that not everything needs to be front and center for you all of the time. We want to make sure WhatsApp remains a private and secure platform where you can communicate with the people who matter most to you while maintaining control over your communications.”

The messaging platform has been testing this functionality for some time, and a beta version was released in 2019 before being pulled back. It seems like this time the update is here to stay.
