What Do We Know So Far About iOS 15?
Apple enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the next big iOS update. According to the on-going speculations, the next update will most probably be called iOS 15. The official announcement is expected to be made at the company’s WWDC 2021 conference. As of now, not a lot is known about the iOS 15 update. However, after observing multiple reports and rumors we have a guess about which devices will be compatible with this update and which will become redundant.
Users who possess the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, or original iPhone SE will be out of luck. It seems these devices are unlikely to be upgraded to the latest software since some of them are even older than 5 years. The iOS 14 upgrade was available on the aforementioned devices even though it was expected that Apple would discontinue support for these devices. Additionally, iPad Air 2, iPad (2017) and iPad mini 4 are likely to join their fate. These devices may be able to download the iPadOS 15 software when it releases. Consequently, if you own Apple devices that antedate iPhone 6 (iPhone 7 and onwards), it is much likely that your device will be compatible with iOS 15.
All of this is purely speculation at the moment since Apple has yet to confirm but credible sources claim that this is the most likely scenario. It is worth noting that those devices that won’t be compatible with iOS 15 will not become obsolete but they will be unable to download the latest features and security updates hence it would be more convenient to invest in a newer iPhone model and carry out an iPhone transfer.
