Apple customers may switch on or off a noise-canceling function for phone conversations in the Accessibility settings up until the iPhone 12. This function was never available for iPhone 13 owners for an unclear reason, and they have been waiting months for Apple to fix the problem.

Further Details

A Reddit user complained a few days ago that the iPhone 13 lacked “a front mic that is utilized for noise suppression.” Accessibility -> Audio/Visual is where you’ll find the setting.” The person was true about the missing functionality, but not about the iPhone 13 having fewer microphones than the iPhone 12.

Other Reddit users rightly pointed out that this isn’t a hardware issue, citing a debate from October on the Apple forum. Then, an Apple Community Specialist linked up an article that explains how to alter the iPhone’s audio settings. The issue is that iPhone 13 users are unable to locate this feature: While Phone Noise Cancellation is enabled, the ambient background noise on phone calls is reduced when the receiver is held to your ear.

The issue is that this debate dates back to October 29, which is over two months ago. Apple just released iOS 15.2, which didn’t fix the problem, and the problem still exists in the iOS 15.3 beta. Nevertheless, the iOS 15 has introduced a plethora of features including much simpler ways to transfer data from one iPhone to another.

For now, Activating the Voice Isolation function on a call in the Control Center is currently the only remedy available. Hopefully, Apple will address the issue sooner rather than later.
