OnePlus has opted to disclose its newest flagship in a forum post on Monday, just days before the global debut of the OnePlus 10 Pro. Inside and exterior, the new phone will be essentially identical to the Chinese counterpart introduced earlier this year. Models sold in the United States, on the other hand, will have a significant charging downgrade.

OnePlus 10 Charging Downgrade

While OnePlus 10 Pro devices in Europe and India will support 80W SuperVOOC charging, the North American model will only support 65W, according to the forum post. This effectively maintains the charging speed of OnePlus’ prior flagship phones. When asked why U.S. models are experiencing slower charging speeds, a member of the OnePlus forum staff explained. The OnePlus 10 Pro supports 65W SUPERVOOC in North America. This is due to the fact that the 80W SUPERVOOC does not yet accept 110 or 120-volt AC power, which is the region’s norm.

It’s unfortunate that charging speeds won’t be increased in the United States. The 10 Pro’s charge, on the other hand, remains “the quickest standard for charging in North America,” capable of charging the phone’s 5,000mAh battery in only 34 minutes, according to OnePlus. That’s far quicker than the top Android phones available in the United States, notably Samsung’s current flagships, which are limited to 45W.

Thankfully, it does not appear that wireless charging will be impacted. The OnePlus 10 Pro will also maintain its fast 50W AirVOOC charging, which can completely charge the phone in 47 minutes, according to OnePlus. The 10 Pro that will be sold in the United States will have the same Smart Charge Protection function as previous models.

Other features and specifications highlighted by OnePlus include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a bespoke cooling system, and OxygenOS 12.1 software enhancements. The upgrades will make it easier to carry out complex functions such as phone clone swiftly. Hopefully, when combined, the OnePlus 10 Pro will be able to deliver on its promise of “20 percent higher performance and 30 percent increased power economy” while also avoiding the Galaxy S22’s thermal concerns.

Meanwhile, you can still reserve the OnePlus 10 Pro and get a complimentary pair of OnePlus Buds Pro as well as expedited shipment.
