Spotify will soon enable users to rate their favorite podcast
Spotify is launching its own version of Apple Podcasts’ star rating system. Today, the firm announced the launch of a five-star podcast rating system. The app has been adding features at a rapid pace lately. There has been a slew of features released in just the past few months. The music platform recently caused a flurry with its “Spotify Wrapped” feature. Other music platforms such as Deezer soon followed suit.
Rate Your Favorite Podcasts
Thanks to the latest feature, listeners will be able to leave a rating after listening to a show for at least 30 seconds, and if at least 10 ratings have been received, the average rating will be displayed on the show’s landing page. The feature is intended to make it “easier for listeners to select when to try out a new podcast,” according to Spotify, and these ratings will “act as the first chance to pull new listeners in.”
Podcasters are encouraged to promote Spotify and tell their listeners to rate them there. This is most certainly Spotify’s major motivation. On Apple Podcasts, the “rate and review” cliche is amusing, but it’s also a real motivator for users to download the app. If podcasters instead promoted Spotify, perhaps a few people might download the app or at the very least open it and figure out how to listen to a podcast.
Reviews, on the other hand, frequently expose platforms and their users to harassment. They do provide a beneficial first impression of a show, but they are also simple to manipulate. Fans frequently make derogatory remarks, which are detrimental to the artist’s career.
Blocking Users Made Easier
For years, Spotify users have been requesting a mechanism to permanently remove contacts, and the business finally replied in 2019 with a “block artist” function. Customers who were watched and harassed by other users on Spotify were unable to block the harassers from observing their activities on the app, according to a report published by BuzzFeed News in 2018. According to Spotify, the development of a block user feature was “under discussion” at the time.
Both features are still in the works, so make sure your app is up to date and your users will be able to utilize them sooner rather than later.
