Samsung might postpone the launch of its Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for Galaxy devices. A prominent industry insider recently suggested that the company is prioritizing the development of One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy S24 series, pushing the next One UI version to a later date. One UI 6.1.1, which is based on Android 14, is set to debut with new foldable devices next month.

One UI 6.1.1 Prioritization: Focus on AI Features

Each year, Samsung introduces a new One UI build based on the current Android version alongside its new foldable devices. These updates typically offer minor enhancements, particularly for tablets and foldables, with fewer improvements for regular smartphones. The rollout to other eligible models usually follows swiftly, wrapping up within a few weeks.

However, this year seems different. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will launch with One UI 6.1.1, an Android 14-based update featuring significant AI advancements and camera improvements for the Galaxy S24 series. The extensive scope of this update means Samsung will need more time to ensure a bug-free release, thereby delaying the development and launch of One UI 7.0.

Expected Rollout Timeline for One UI 6.1.1

Though we lack specific dates, tipster Ice Universe suggests that Samsung will start rolling out One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy S24 series in August. For reference, the Galaxy S23 series received its first Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta in the second week of August last year. This indicates a potential delay of at least a few weeks for One UI 6.1.1. A simultaneous release of One UI 6.1.1 and One UI 7.0 beta seems unlikely.

With these upcoming updates, transitioning to a new Galaxy device or even switching between operating systems becomes crucial. The Smart Transfer mobile data manager app offers a seamless solution for transferring all your important data, including contacts, photos, and apps, from your old device to your new one. Whether you’re upgrading within the Samsung ecosystem or switching from Android to iPhone, Smart Transfer ensures a smooth and efficient data migration process. This third-party app is a must-have for anyone looking to manage their mobile data effortlessly during such transitions.

Possibility of a Timely Stable Release for Android 15

Even with a delayed start for the One UI 7.0 public beta, Samsung might catch up later. The company could accelerate the development process to ensure the timely release of the stable update. Last year, Samsung tested One UI 6.0 for nearly three months before the stable release, which came in late October after nine beta builds. A similar but expedited timeline might be adopted this year to compensate for any delays.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be the first to receive both beta and stable builds of One UI 7.0. We will monitor Samsung’s community forums closely for more updates and information on release dates. Traditionally, Samsung’s One UI beta programs have been limited to seven countries: China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Whether more markets will be included for the One UI 7.0 beta this year remains to be seen.

Stay tuned for more updates on Samsung’s latest software developments and prepare for the exciting new features in One UI 6.1.1 and One UI 7.0.
