Profile Transfer Coming to Netflix in 2023
If you recently got kicked out of a shared Netflix’s account, don’t worry the company has a feature to ease the pain. The streaming platform has been testing a new feature in selected countries which will allow users to transfer their accounts data to another profile.
‘Profile Transfers’
On Monday, Netflix introduced a new function called Profile Transfer. According to the company’s news release, the functionality lets users to take their “personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other preferences” to a new account.
There are two motives for this capability, just one of which Netflix would likely want you to consider. The first category is those who share an account with a roommate or their parents, and subsequently split ways, but you’re still stuck uncomfortably gazing at their name every time you log in. Netflix aims to make that transition easier so that new single users don’t have to start from zero.
The second reason is that Netflix is working hard to ensure that many individuals will soon be compelled to have their own Netflix account. Password sharing will be strictly prohibited in the future as the corporation seeks new methods to gain customers. According to sources, Netflix estimates that more than 100 million households utilize data sharing account information to access the platform.
Profile Transfer walks you through the process of creating a new Netflix account from an existing profile in both scenarios. The setup flow is full of positive encouragement about how you can now “own your account and maintain everything you love about this profile,” and it leaves a backup copy of the profile in the current account.
We expect the feature to be widely rolled out in the coming days. It is also worth mentioning that Netflix is working on verification codes to weed out free-loaders and the people who actually belong on the account.
