Nothing Phone 1 Will Receive Android 13 by 2023
The Nothing Phone 1 was perhaps the most anticipated smartphone of 2022. While the design was something different, the internal hardware was nothing out of this world. The mystery around the device is what created such a hype. The Nothing Phone 1 was shipped with Android 12 but according to the company users will have to wait till 2023 to get the latest Android 13 update.
What We Know So Far
The firm has stated that Phone 1 would get Android 13 “within the first half of 2023.” This may dissatisfy at least some consumers who had thought the near-stock Android smartphone will receive the most recent version this year.
Android 13 was released last week for Google’s Pixel lineup, with Samsung, OnePlus, Motorola, Sony, Xiaomi, Asus, and others planning to release it “later this year.” Therefore, by delaying until 2023, Nothing is falling behind the competition. Carl Pei, co-founder and CEO of Nothing, revealed last week that the Phone 1 would not get Android 13 in the near future when he reacted to a query on the matter with a complete nonresponse.
Android 13 is mostly a refinement version that enhances day-to-day performance such as better clone it capabilities and stability, after the huge overhaul of the previous year. According to what I’ve observed on social media and Reddit, Pixel owners have praised it highly so far. Many users are experiencing smoother animations and an overall improvement.
There are, however, some new features, such as language option per app, a redesigned music player, support for Bluetooth Low Energy, and the ability to stream messages from Android applications straight to a user’s Chromebook.
OnePlus is often the quickest business other than Google to push out major Android versions, at least for its most recent flagship. The wait time for older devices may be greater. Samsung has progressively increased the speed of all of its products. However, if you use a Motorola or Sony phone, particular update time might be quite random.
It could always be worse: Qualcomm’s Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders is still stuck on Android 11 despite its $1,500 price tag, with upgrades arriving so seldom that many who purchased the phone on a whim believe it has been abandoned.
