iPhone’s Hidden Photos Security to be Amped Up in iOS 16

In iOS 16, Apple will introduce a new feature that will make the Hidden and Recently Deleted albums in Photos far more secure than they were before.

According to the features page for iOS 16, such albums will now be locked by default beginning with iOS 16. You will be able to open them using Face ID, Touch ID, or a password, as stated on Apple’s iOS 16 features page. This change will take effect when iOS 16 is released.

These albums are difficult to locate on iOS 15, but they do not have any kind of password security on them hence people can transfer data images without the owner’s consent. That implies that anybody who has unauthorized access to your phone may simply see what’s there as long as they know where to search for it, which somewhat negates the point of the Hidden album in particular.

Because of this change introduced in iOS 16, other people won’t be able to see the images in either album until you first unlock them. This new functionality will also be accessible in the next iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura software upgrades, and the release of all three of these software updates is scheduled for this autumn.

The improvements to Photos aren’t the only new additions to iOS 16’s privacy settings. Apple also launched a new feature called Safety Check.
