iPhone SE is rumored to appear in 2023 with 5G
In recent weeks, speculations regarding the upcoming iPhone SE have been circling. In all probability, a new iPhone SE will be Apple’s first significant hardware announcement this year. Apple delayed four years between the first two generations, but all signals are pointing to a more regular release cadence going ahead. Given the sheer amount of leaks, we are all but confident the iPhone SE 3 will ship this spring. And now, owing to another leak, we could know its name: iPhone SE+ 5G. According to display industry analyst Ross Young, Apple aims to produce a fourth-generation iPhone SE with a bigger 5.7-inch display as early as 2023, which has shown to be a credible source of information for future Apple products.
Interestingly, Young also revealed the third-generation iPhone SE that is generally anticipated to come this year is reported to be titled the iPhone SE+ 5G. The gadget is likely to sport the same design as the existing iPhone SE, featuring a 4.7-inch touchscreen, with important additional features including a speedier A15 CPU and 5G capability. iPhone SE+ 5G would be pretty unordinary branding with the features like iPhone transfer for an Apple product. Thus this supposed name should be considered with some suspicion for now.
iPhone SE+ 5G may be Apple’s latest affordable phone
According to Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young, Apple has decided on iPhone SE+ 5G as the name of their next affordable iPhone. Young has a strong track record when it comes to Apple leaks and has been talking about the upcoming iPhone SE on Twitter for months. Young originally anticipated that Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE would include a redesigned design. But he subsequently backtracked early last year, suggesting that Apple will wait for at least one more generation before modifying the smartphone’s design. The 2022 iPhone SE will include a 4.7-inch LCD, much as the 2020 iPhone SE. The most significant improvements will be an improved A15 Bionic CPU and capability for 5G networks. Apple will reportedly use the latter upgrade’s name to promote the former.
It’s unknown why Apple would choose to modify the naming system in such a severe manner at this point. According to 9to5Mac, the last time Apple incorporated cellular network lingo in a phone was with the iPhone 3G, released in 2008. Other companies have been adding the term “5G” to the end of their product names in recent years, but Apple has been more than happy to distinguish itself by giving its phones distinctive names.
Apple has great ambitions for the low-cost iPhone
Almost every iPhone SE leak over the last several months has pointed to internal changes rather than outward upgrades for the iPhone SE 3, which is expected to be released in the spring of this year.
On the other hand, the fourth-generation iPhone SE seems significantly more interesting. In a recent interview, Young said that the iPhone SE in 2023 will have a more contemporary appearance than its predecessors. This prediction was reinforced in a tweet sent out on Monday by the same author, who said that the iPhone SE 4 would feature an LCD of 5.7 inches and be available for purchase as early as next year. However, he didn’t specify what the phone would look like in its final form. If Young’s tweet is correct, the iPhone SE 4 will be the first iPhone with a screen larger than 5.7 inches. In recent years, Apple has launched “Plus” models with 5.5-inch displays, while the “small” versions have had 5.4-inch displays. So if Apple does decide to discontinue the iPhone small, the iPhone SE might easily take its place in the market.
In a recent newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple would have a virtual unveiling event for the iPhone SE 3 in March or April. This is consistent with previous reports. Apple unveiled the first-generation iPhone SE on March 21, 2016, and the second-generation iPhone SE on April 15, 2020, both of which were released in the United States. It seems that the corporation intends to keep this schedule in place for the foreseeable future. The fourth-generation iPhone SE had been predicted to appear in 2024, but Young now believes a release in 2023 is a more realistic possibility.
