iOS 16.2 Features: All You Need to Know
Apple has officially launched iOS 16.2, the second major update to the iOS 16 operating system, which includes a slew of new features, functions, and customizations for iPhones, such as end-to-end encryption for iCloud backups, additional Live Activities settings, and more.
Apple Music Sing
Apple Music Sing, a new Karaoke experience for Apple Music members that allows users sing along to their favorite songs by altering the volume of the voices in tracks, is being introduced with the release of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and tvOS 16.2.
Apple Music Sing, which is available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV 4K (2022), combines with Apple Music’s real-time lyrics feature and offers you control over a song’s voice levels. This means you may either sing along with the original artist’s vocals or tone down the vocals and take the lead.
iCloud End-to-End Encryption
Apple is also launching Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, which leverages end-to-end encryption to deliver the greatest degree of cloud data protection available from Apple and making it more secure to transfer files across Apple devices. By default, iCloud secures 14 critical data categories with end-to-end encryption, including passwords in iCloud Keychain and Health data. When Advanced Data Protection is enabled, the total number of data types protected by end-to-end encryption increases to 23.
The new security feature gives customers the option of protecting more of their crucial iCloud data, including as iCloud Backup, Photos, Notes, and more. It should be noted that the function is presently only accessible to users in the United States.
Temporary Bypass for iCloud Private Relay
Apple’s premium iCloud Plus service includes a function called iCloud Private Relay, which encrypts online traffic leaving your device so that no one can intercept or read it. Private Relay conceals your IP address from websites, but Apple recognizes that there may be instances when you want your IP address to be accessible, which is why it has provided a new temporary bypass option.
Customizations for the Always-On Display
Apple has responded to consumer complaints about the lack of flexibility with the Always-On Display by including settings in iOS 16.2 that allow users to modify the degree of detail shown on their iPhone 14 Pro’s Always-On display.
Overall, we are pleased with the number of updates rolled out. Apple even released a whiteboard app called, “Freeform”. The company is marketing it as an ‘unlimited canvas’ for brainstorming and collaboration.
