The iOS 16.2 is finally available for iPhone 8 and newer. The software update contains over a dozen new features and enhancements for the iPhone, including last-minute additions like Apple Music Sing and Advanced Data Protection.

Let’s quickly go over some of the notable features with the latest software update.

Apple Music Sing

Apple Music Sing is a new karaoke-like feature in the Apple Music app’s lyrics page that allows you to sing along to tens of millions of songs. Users may use this function to reduce the level of a song’s vocals and then take over as the vocalist.

Apple Music Sing works with devices that have an A13 processor or newer, such as the iPhone 11 and newer, certain iPads, and the newest Apple TV 4K.

Two New Lock Screen Widgets

On iOS 16.2, there are two new Lock Screen widgets for Sleep and Medications. The Sleep widget displays your most recent sleep session and sleep phases, whilst the Medications widget provides easy access to your prescription regimen.

New AirDrop Setting

To reduce annoying requests from strangers, iOS 16.2 substitutes AirDrop’s old “Everyone” setting with a restricted “Everyone for 10 Minutes” option. Users can no longer carry out simple transfer with strangers, this update comes after the protests in China. With the new setting, after 10 minutes, AirDrop returns to “Contacts Only” mode.

Live Activities for Sports Scores

The Apple TV app now supports Live Activities for sports scores in iOS 16.2. On iPhone 14 Pro models, the function lets users see live scores from MLB, NBA, and Premier League games on the Lock Screen and on the Dynamic island.

To utilize the functionality, launch the TV app on an iPhone running iOS 16.2 and press the “Follow” button for a compatible game. According to Apple, the functionality is available for NBA and Premier League games in the United States and Canada, as well as MLB games in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea.

These are just some of the prominent features of the newest iOS 16.2 update. To make sure that your iPhone has the latest update, check your software version in settings.
