Infamous Password Manager, LastPass Hacked
LastPass, a service that lets individuals manage their passwords, was hacked two weeks ago. As a result, hackers were able to obtain the company’s source code and technical knowledge that was previously solely accessible to them.
Data Breach at LastPass
LastPass announced a data breach in a blog post today, informing customers who use the company’s products to keep their information secure online of the incident. However, the organization emphasized that no customer data was taken and that consumers do not need to do anything to secure their data.
An unnamed person accessed a developer’s account and took elements of the company’s source code and technical knowledge that was only known to LastPass. Even while it’s reassuring that no data was stolen, the stolen source code and sensitive knowledge might be a major issue, leading to other efforts to get in. The hackers could have accessed users data to clone it and use it illegally. According to Toubba, LastPass has recruited a “renowned cybersecurity and forensics firm,” indicating that the corporation is aware of this risk.
In the recent year, there have been two data breaches at LastPass. In December, hackers attempted to get access to certain LastPass customers’ personal vaults using a technique known as “credential stuffing.” According to the firm, no one’s account was compromised during the incident. LastPass said it will keep consumers updated as it learns more.
User passwords are stored in encrypted vaults that can be accessed only with the user’s master password. LastPass is generally regarded as one of the finest password managers on the market.
