In 2022, Apple is slated to release “AirPods Pro 2,” which will include Lossless playback and a new in-ear design. Here’s all we know so far about the impending earphones, as well as some exclusive renders.

Further Details

Since their first introduction in 2019, the AirPods Pro hasn’t received any updates. The AirPods 3 introduced MagSafe to both the charging case and the AirPods 3, however, no actual second-generation device has been disclosed.

Apple is expected to ship the “AirPods Pro 2” late in 2022, according to supply chain rumours. This corresponds to Apple’s regular product release timetable. The new earphones are expected to have a fresh design, health-focused features, and a more powerful CPU.

The supposed SoC housing for the “AirPods Pro 2” was shown in two sizes in an early leak. This sparked suspicion that Apple will sell different sizes of the new earphones, but the notion hasn’t surfaced since. Whereas, it is worth mentioning that Apple’s competitors have shifted to earbuds with no stems and more discreet designs. Apple may reduce or eliminate the stem in a future model, according to rumours.

Since Apple didn’t include any with the AirPods 3, there’s a slim probability of further colour possibilities. With its white-plastic exterior and interchangeable rubber tips, the overall design will be instantly recognisable.

Apple will have to work on making the earphones without stems easier to install and remove. In addition, to take advantage of the more compact form, the charging case will most likely be changed to a clamshell.

The processor of the “AirPods Pro 2,” according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, will almost certainly be upgraded as well. Improved intelligent capabilities such as auto-switching and on-device Siri controls will be enabled by the rumoured H2 chip. In addition, thanks to a more effective battery management system, the battery life should significantly improve.

Lossless audio playback is also expected for the earphones in some manner. It’s unclear how Apple would accomplish this, but it likely requires a new wireless standard involving WiFi or other wireless platforms. Some think that this new method, which supports lossless playback, will be known as AirPlay 3.

Based on the data shared on the web, AirPods will have health-related applications. With Conversation Boost, they can already be used as basic hearing aids, but more health benefits may be on the way. The “AirPods Pro 2” could have features like heart rate monitoring, temperature sensing, and posture monitoring.

Minor enhancements to the charging case could include an AirTag-like tracking feature, an external speaker, and faster-charging speeds. Because the present casing doesn’t have a method to create sound, and U1 chip and external speaker would greatly increase the Find My capabilities for AirPods. The “AirPods Pro 2” will be released in the fall of 2022 at the same $250 price.
