Samsung’s Gallery app is a popular photo management tool that comes pre-installed on many Samsung devices. It has many features, including the ability to group similar images, pick the best one from the group, and hide the rest. However, this feature can sometimes be problematic as it might group photos that you don’t want to be grouped. Here’s how to ungroup similar images in Samsung Gallery.

Step 1: Open the Gallery app

Open the Samsung Gallery app on your device.

Step 2: View the “Pictures” tab

Make sure you’re viewing the “Pictures” tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: Tap the “Group similar images” button

At the top of the screen, you’ll see a button that’s shaped like two squares overlapping. Tap this button to view your grouped photos.

Step 4: Ungroup your images

To ungroup your images, tap the “Ungroup similar images” button at the top of the screen. This will separate all your similar photos, and you can now view them individually.

It’s important to note that when you ungroup your similar images, the “best” photo will no longer be selected, and you’ll need to manually choose the one you prefer.

Issues with Samsung Gallery’s similar photos feature

Although Samsung’s Gallery app has a useful feature to group similar photos, it has some limitations. The algorithm used by the app to detect similar images may not always be accurate, and it might group photos that you don’t want to be grouped together. For example, if you’re taking pictures of a cooking recipe with multiple steps, the app might only choose one photo from the series, and the rest might be hidden from view.

Similar photos feature in Core Manager app

If you’re still struggling with managing similar photos on your Samsung device, you might want to try a third-party app like the Core all-in-one phone manager. This app has a similar feature that can identify and remove similar photos. Additionally, it can automatically delete duplicate photos, freeing up space on your device.

Sum-Up

Samsung’s Gallery app is an excellent tool for managing your photos. However, the similar photos feature may not always work as intended. By following the steps outlined above, you can easily ungroup your similar images and view them individually. If you’re looking for more advanced photo management features, you might want to try a third-party app like Core all-in-one phone manager.
