Google to Unveil New Pixel Phone and More on October 6 2022
Google has begun mailing out invitations to their autumn hardware event, which will take place on Thursday, October 6th at 10 a.m. ET. The Pixel 7 phones, as well as the Pixel Watch, will be unveiled during the event. Google showed off both gadgets at its I/O event earlier this year, promising their arrival in the autumn. Google also claims that the event would be used to reveal new additions to the Nest smart home portfolio.
Google’s October Event Details
Google’s announcement comes only one day before Apple’s Far Out event, when the iPhone 14 will be unveiled. Purported leaks have disclosed much more about the gadgets since Google’s previous presentation, with both the Watch and phones presumably finding their way into people’s hands. According to reports, the business is now releasing a bit more about the gadgets, with the Pixel 7’s product website stating that it will be powered by a next-generation processor dubbed the Tensor G2 hence better move to iOS capabilities.
The leaks haven’t disclosed much about the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro that we didn’t previously know, such the fact that the Pro variant features an aluminum camera bar with two cutouts on the back. Someone was able to unbox and power up the phone, but considering that Android 13 has already begun to roll out on other smartphones, this isn’t really a surprise. However, a Redditor obtained a prototype Pixel Watch earlier this year. While it wouldn’t boot, their images gave us a better feel of the Watch’s size and how it’ll appear on the wrist.
The Pixel 7 seems to be a fairly basic continuation of the previous generation of phones, but the Watch is under a little more pressure as the “first wristwatch developed by Google, inside and out,” according to its product page on Google’s web shop.
Google’s rivals, Samsung and Apple, have been producing wearables for years, so the company’s entrance must be competent and at least somewhat competitive straight away. So far, specifics regarding it are few; we don’t even know what chip it will employ, but we should have a better idea by October 6th.
