Google stated today that Android users in Ukraine would receive air raid notifications straight on their phones before assaults are predicted near them. The business claimed it’s working with the Ukrainian government to bring out an alert system for Android phones in the nation in an updated blog post.

Air Raid Alerts by Google

On the Google Play Store, Google has previously highlighted the Ukrainian Alarm app, which provides air raid notifications to Ukrainians in areas where current alerts are in effect. According to Burke, the new notifications system will begin rolling out today and will eventually reach all Android phones in Ukraine.

The deployment, according to Kent Walker, Google’s head of global affairs, is a complement to Ukraine’s current air raid alarm systems and is based on notifications previously issued by the Ukrainian government.

Google’s vice president of engineering, Dave Burke, outlined the system in a series of tweets, saying it uses the company’s low latency alert mechanism, which it developed for seismic notifications. Burke also mentioned that the system is starting to roll out today and that it will eventually affect all Android phones in Ukraine.

According to the data shared by Google in the same blog post, the tech giant will keep working to reduce suggestions for a number of Russian state-funded media sources across all of its platforms. In addition, the corporation is halting the majority of its commercial activity in Russia.

Google maintains that its free services, including Search, Gmail, and YouTube, are still running in Russia. The business said it will keep an eye on the situation.
