Entry-level MacBook may be shipped without a ProMotion display
Apple left the entry-level MacBook Pro model alone when it revamped its MacBook Pro range last autumn. There have been reports since then that the business is working on a new version of the computer that will use its upcoming M2 processor. We now have a better sense of what to expect from the corporation thanks to some reliable sources.
All We Know So Far
Mark Gurman, in his monthly Power On newsletter, predicts that the entry-level model will follow its brothers in ditching the much-maligned Touch Bar. He points out that the machine won’t have the ProMotion display technology present on the 2021 MacBook Pro, which means it won’t enable a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz for better scrolling. Mini-LED backlighting is also reportedly off the table, so don’t expect the base model’s display to be as brilliant as its siblings’. If you opt to get the latest model, you may have to sacrifice internal storage as well hence you may often have to carry out iPhone transfers so you won’t use up all your storage.
Apple aims to offer at least four M2-powered Macs in 2022, according to Gurman. Aside from the MacBook Pro, Apple is said to be planning to update the MacBook Air, 24-inch iMac, and entry-level Mac Mini with the latest generation of its in-house silicon. According to rumors, Apple is working on a 27-inch iMac Pro with its M1 Pro and Max processors.
Gurman did not disclose when the new MacBook Pro model will be available to Apple enthusiasts. The computer is unlikely to be shown during the company’s next hardware showcase. Gurman stated in a second report earlier this week that Apple planned to have an event on or around March 8th. The business is expected to unveil a new iPhone SE and iPad Air around that time.
