Apple is now in the process of building a whiteboarding application, following in the footsteps of numerous other tech giants and entrepreneurs. It has been given the name Freeform, and by the end of this year, it will be made accessible on iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura.

“FreeForm”

Freeform is primarily a note-taking program that also includes tools for group collaboration, data sharing and native connection with FaceTime.

Users have the ability to contribute their own personal comments, drawings (with support for the Apple Pencil on iPad), and other content from inside a Freeform session, in addition to adding components such as photographs and links. They are able to see the cursor being used by one another as they operate. The appropriate group thread in Messages receives updates whenever changes are made.

The trend of whiteboarding applications started before the pandemic (one example of which is Microsoft’s Whiteboard), but it gained momentum during the epidemic as employees switched to remote and hybrid settings. In the most recent few months, both new businesses like as Figma and established ones such as Box and Zoom have introduced new digital whiteboarding technologies.

It is still unknown whether or not Freeform will be made available as part of Apple’s upcoming iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, which are expected to be launched in the autumn. As the week progresses at WWDC, let’s keep our fingers crossed that everything will become clearer.
