Apple is one of the leading smartphone manufacturers. In its last bid to outshine competitors such as Samsung, the tech mogul had released an affordable, miniature version of the iPhone 12. However, it seems to have backfired since the sales of the iPhone 12 mini are staggeringly low.

The iPhone 12 variants were a crowd pleaser especially the iPhone 12 mini. It received major applause from users who preferred devices with smaller screens. It is the cheapest phone from the bunch hence it was sure to be a popular choice however recent statistics reveal something else entirely.

According to AppleInsider, JP Morgan supply chain analyst William Yang said in his recent investment note that Apple might cut the iPhone 12 mini’s production number by 11 million in the first quarter of the year, and may stop manufacturing it in the second quarter. It was further reported by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) that the model made up just 6% of Apple’s sales. This is quite an alarming figure.

The tech giant may still sell the device after production halts but the fate of the iPhone 12 mini is still uncertain. Apple already has a device with a small screen, iPhone SE, hence it does not make sense to keep manufacturing iPhone 12 mini. The reason for its poor sales is that the iPhone 12 minis’ compact battery is not compatible with other models in the same series. However, certain reviews prove otherwise.

If the iPhone 12 mini gets discontinued, it will be the shortest-lived flagship model in iPhone history. Additionally, if rumors are to believe Apple is set to release four variants of the next model. The iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The release date is sometime in September.

In other news, it seems Apple is becoming a pioneer in protecting user rights since the AppTrackingTransparency (ATT) framework. Which is in contrast to its counterpart, Facebook, which has been caught data sharing multiple times. This policy may not be popular with companies but may win users over.
