Apple developing a multi-device charger with the aim of charging all gadgets ‘charge one another’ in the future
Apple is allegedly still working on a multi-device charger for its products, despite its unsuccessful AirPower attempt a few years back. According to a new Bloomberg story, Apple is working on a multi-device charger as well as short and long-range wireless charging technology in order to realize its vision of a future in which all main products “can charge each other.”
Further Details
Bloomberg has previously covered Apple’s efforts to develop a multi-device inductive charging solution. Apple was working on a multi-device inductive charging mat as a spiritual successor to the unsuccessful AirPower effort, according to the magazine from June.
Apple is still working on this multi-device charger, according to the newest edition of his Power On newsletter. This would be in contrast to the existing MagSafe Duo, which is essentially two separate iPhone and Apple Watch chargers sewn together. According to the newsletter, Apple is also working on short and long-range wireless charging methods, this will tasks such as SMS sharing quite easier since the process won’t be interrupted due to battery issues. Unlike existing inductive “wireless” charging technologies, this type of technology allows for true wireless charging.
For several years, so-called reverse wireless charging has been rumored for the iPhone, but it has never materialized. In theory, this would allow users to charge their AirPods or Apple Watch on the fly by placing them on the back of their iPhone. It is worth mentioning that certain Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip already have this feature known as, “Wireless PowerShare”.
Wireless PowerShare is a revolutionary innovation that allows you to use your Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, or Z Flip as a wireless charger. It allows you to share your battery and charge your Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds+ with ease, and it’s also known as reverse wireless charging. It works with Qi-certified devices, which is a widely used standard, so as long as the item can be charged via Qi, you can use your phone to power it.
