Amazon Music is introducing its first true podcasts feature: transcripts in sync
Amazon is one of the renowned names in the tech industry. It has become a major platform for businesses to sell their products on and the tech giant itself has introduced a plethora of innovative products in the market. Last year, Amazon Music added podcasts to its platform, and today it’s releasing its first feature dedicated to them.
Amazon Music Updates Podcast
Starting today, the service will roll out automatically created, synchronized transcripts on iOS and Android in the United States. This means that the transcripts will match the audio you’re listening to, and you’ll be able to navigate around them to skip to certain parts of the audio. The transcripts within the app are interactive and may be viewed full-screen or on top of the album cover.
For the time being, transcripts will only be available for select Amazon Music and Wondery shows, as well as partner programs that have collaborated with Amazon on the feature. According to Kintan Brahmbhatt, director of podcasts at Amazon Music, more partners’ shows will receive transcripts in the future. Amazon wants to be “one of the most creator-friendly, most podcaster-friendly services out there,” he says, which is why the team is being so hands-on with partners.
Advertisements will not be transcribed; instead, the transcription will say “audio not transcribed” over such breaks. In general, Brahmbhatt says the main goal for this launch was for people to be able to browse a podcast based on the textual form, similar to how they can scroll through a video.
Summing Up
Amazon Music has evolved into a music and podcast app that is distinct from Audible, which has a different payment strategy but also includes podcasts. Various exclusive show deals have been pursued by Amazon Music. Although full transcripts aren’t available natively on Apple Podcasts, program makers can transcribe their shows and post the written version in their show notes.
In other news, with a growing trend of utility apps like remove contacts, the Apple AppStore has been quite exciting. Users can create a well-organized, clutter-free contact book using these apps. A cluttered phonebook can be troublesome at times; it makes it difficult to find contacts and requires less storage space, so it’s better to have a regular check than to let things pile up.
