Nothing’s first smartphone has left fans in a frenzy. Fans are anticipating a return to those beginnings as Carl Pei’s first smartphone endeavor since leaving OnePlus, and the business is adopting many of the same marketing/hype strategies that OnePlus utilized in its early days.

Since the phone’s existence was initially announced, the hype mill has been in full swing. If you live in the United States and want to participate in Nothing’s marketing, you’re out of luck: this phone will not be available in North America.

Nothing (1) Limited to Canada & Europe

This issue was discovered by Evan Blass, who noted on his Twitter account that just a few US bands are on Nothing’s list of supported carriers. Then, in a statement to PCMag, the business confirmed that the phone would not be released in the United States or Canada — at least not at first. In a message to Android Police, the business has also verified this.

Nothing indicates that it is currently concentrating on areas such as the UK and Europe, and although you may use the Phone 1 in the US, you will encounter poor service on T-Mobile Content Transfer and no VoLTE on AT&T. Meanwhile, Verizon subscribers are entirely out of luck.

There is, however, a silver lining: Nothing has also indicated that it has intentions to introduce a US-supported phone in the future, but this would need adequate carrier support.

A small number of the company’s private community investors will also be able to get their hands on the Phone 1 in the United States via a closed beta test, but it doesn’t seem like most people will be able to participate.

It’s certainly upsetting news, particularly since the firm sought the assistance of US-based producers like Marques Brownlee to assist with marketing efforts. While carrier compatibility is certainly nothing new, Carl Pei has never been one to let that stop him. It’s hardly unexpected given how difficult it is to get US network compatibility properly. Given the strength of Nothing’s hype machine, this news will undoubtedly shatter some hearts.
